Auckland is facing a land supply shortage. Or is it?
A lot of land within Auckland’s city limits is underused by comparison to other major cities around the world.
Colliers said this week Auckland was at risk of failing to meeting targets for house building largely due to a land shortage.

Much of the land supply needed for housing would need to be found in central Auckland and be developed with apartments, said Colliers spokesman Alan McMahon.
“One way of getting around the problem of land cost is to build intensively,” McMahon said.
