Older, European New Zealanders are more than four times better off than their Maori counterparts, data from Statistics New Zealand shows.
It has released information detailing how New Zealanders build up wealth over their lifetimes.
It shows while Maori and Pacific people tend to become wealthier later in life, they never catch up to those of European descent.
Across everyone aged over 15, European New Zealanders have an individual median net worth of $114,000. Asian people come in at $32,000, Maori people at $23,000 and Pacific people at $12,000.
