When Hans Shawani decided to move back to New Zealand with his wife and children in February, he assumed the family could return to the Auckland home he had owned for 15 years.
But it was not to be.
Shawani, his wife Wahaj and children Sarah, Adam and May, have been living in a serviced apartment since March, paying $1250 a week – because the tenants in the Botany Downs home they own cannot be forced to leave until at least June 26.
Shawani purchased the property before shifting to Australia, where he met his wife.
They moved the family back after he accepted a job offer with Health Alliance, which provides support to district health boards.
