PHOTO: Building Nightmare

In the past decade in Australia’s major cities, there’s been a high-rise building boom, and more than two million Australians now live in apartment blocks. But cracks are starting to appear in its appeal, quite literally. Last Christmas Eve, Sydney’s Opal Tower was evacuated after fears the entire building could collapse. And recently, on June 14th, residents of another high-rise block in Sydney had to leave their homes for the same reason. Nadia Daly takes a look at who’s liable, and who else could be at risk.
