A woman who stole $23,000 from a 94-year-old woman has sold her house to repay the debt.

The Dunedin woman, 42, has interim name suppression and was expected to be sentenced in the Dunedin District Court on Wednesday.

But after selling her home to repay the debt, she no longer had a suitable address for home detention.

The woman stole the money – a third of the victim’s life savings – over a period of years.

At her last appearance in January, Judge Michael Turner told her he was unimpressed with her offer to repay the debt at $20 a week.
