Schoolies Week sees a wave of just-graduated Australian students flock to the Glitter Strip to soak up their new-found freedom every year.
But the annual rite-of-passage has left a trail of destruction in its wake.
Extensive damage to a Surfers Paradise apartment was exposed by the Gold Coast Bulletin after last year’s celebrations — the apartment owner was left with a $40,000 damage bill.
Authorities are also kept busy dealing with underage drinking and other illegal behaviour, excessive noise and widespread damage to property.
