Rob Deutsch was best known as an equities trader when at the age of 27 he bought his first home, a one-bedroom apartment set a block back from the beach at Bondi for $600,000.
But in the fallout from the global financial crisis he found himself redundant in 2012, so turned to setting up a gym with $100,000 at Sydney’s White City.
At the time Deutsch was yet to make any decent impression on property records, but that changed five years ago when he teamed up with his mate Adam Gilchrist (not the cricketer), rebadged the gym F45 and franchised the model.
The Australian fitness franchise has grown exponentially since, with 1500 studios in 40 countries and financial buy in from Hollywood heart-throb Mark Wahlberg.
