A beachside house with links to Australian rock ‘n’ roll history has hit the market in Rye on Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula with an asking price range between $900,000 and $1 million.

The vendor of the four-bedroom home at 8 Andrea Street, Rye is Tony Healey, who appeared on TV rock shows Kommotion and Up Tight in the 1960s and ’70s with his good friend Ian “Molly” Meldrum.

He was also a journalist with Go-Set, Australia’s first music newspaper.

Mr Healey and his wife Belinda are selling the home to downsize, with the couple hoping to find a smaller home in the area after they sell.

The home has been dubbed “Margaritaville”, inspired by the Jimmy Buffett song and also because of the parties the couple hosted where the famous frozen alcoholic drink was served.

“It’s always 5 o’clock somewhere,” Mr Healey laughed.

Mr Healey has owned the home for seven years, moving to the Mornington Peninsula to live closer to the beach.
