According to realestate.com.au he’s technically a retiree ready to downsize, but the vendor of this grand Brighton mansion also happens to be the ex-captain of the Australian Cricket team.
Cricket legend Ricky Ponting, and his wife Rianna, have decided to sell their glamorous Melbourne property — essentially because it’s on the wrong side of town.
The couple is trading in their seven-bedroom Brighton home of 10 years for a six-bedroom Toorak residence so they’ll be closer to the kids’ sporting activities.
A decade ago it was the schools, restaurants and beach — plus proximity to friends such Ricky’s former teammate and longtime Brighton resident the late Shane Warne – which attracted the Pontings to the vibrant suburb.
“Shane living there did play a big role in us moving to Brighton,” Rianna told the AFR.
“We had been to his home many times and fell in love with the area and Ricky loved having a mate around the corner to play golf with.”
After retiring from full time cricket in 2012, Ricky and Rianna sold the family home in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire and headed south to settle in Melbourne’s Bayside area.
