Burger King co-founder David Hales has successfully sold his Noosa hinterland estate, ‘Barellan,’ for $10.2 million, a significant drop from the initial asking price of $17 million when it was first listed in July last year. Situated in Lake Macdonald, a suburb of the Noosa shire, this property, managed by Cameron Urquhart of Tom Offermann Real Estate, is renowned as one of Queensland’s premier hinterland properties.

Originally purchased by the Hales in 2021 for an undisclosed amount, the historic homestead, constructed in 1900, boasts 2.5km of Lake Macdonald frontage and is just a 15-minute drive from Hastings Street. With features such as 200-year-old French oak floors, pressed metal ceilings, and a master suite adorned with a French crystal chandelier, ‘Barellan’ showcases timeless elegance.

Lake Macdonald is a suburb of the Noosa shire.

The property also includes luxurious amenities like a 25-meter pool, a separate carriage house, a guest cottage, and equestrian facilities, making it a truly remarkable estate. Notably, the sale comes after the Hales made headlines in 2020 for selling their Sunshine Beach home to former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and his wife for $17 million.

Talk about kitchen goals.

Despite parting with ‘Barellan,’ the Hales still retain two properties purchased in 2019 along the Noosa River in Mossman Court, totaling $12.25 million. One of these residences is a four-bedroom home inspired by Ralph Lauren’s Caribbean holiday home.

This property at 116 Hayward Road, Lake Macdonald, has just been sold by Tom Offermann Real Estate.

David Hales, along with Nik Rollison and Michael Tripp, co-founded Betty’s Burgers in Noosa in 2014. Recently, the trio expanded their culinary ventures by launching Slim’s, an American diner-style burger franchise in Queensland, with the first store in Kippa-Ring and a second in Logan.
