Chinese buyers not pushing up Aussie home prices

CHINESE buyers have not pushed up Australian house prices, new research has found.

A Deakin University research paper also reveals Chinese buyers prefer houses over apartments, usually spend less than $800,000 and school zones aren’t a top priority.

Deakin Business School researcher Dr Mona Chung surveyed 367 Chinese buyers who have purchased property in Australia, revealing some unexpected responses.

Dr Chung said she was surprised by what motivated property purchases by Chinese buyers, with public transport rather than school zones topping their wish list.
