A significant part of Joyce’s post-work life will revolve around his $20 million plus apartment in The Rocks, nestled in the heart of Sydney. This lavish residence offers breathtaking views of both the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. Originally, Joyce had planned to savor his retirement in one of Sydney’s most exclusive suburbs, Mosman, in a stunning waterfront home.

Purchased for $19 million in March of the previous year, Joyce and his husband, Shane Lloyd, invested millions in enhancing the exquisite four-bedroom property with a private deep waterfront jetty on Mosman Bay. This residence boasts approximately 433 square meters of internal living space and was thoughtfully redesigned in 2015 by Seattle-based architect Paul Moon, with recent renovations carried out by Levine Vokaberg.

However, Joyce and Lloyd had a change of heart and decided to expand their current residence in The Rocks. In July, they sold their Musgrave St home for just under $21 million. During their brief tenure at the 1908 property, they embarked on a grand internal renovation, importing fixtures and fittings from the United States, even including some of the furniture in the sale.

Although their initial plan was to make Musgrave St their home, the couple had a change of heart when they unexpectedly had the opportunity to acquire the neighboring half-level apartment where they currently reside. Joyce explained their real estate decision, saying, “This meant we wouldn’t be moving to Mosman. We certainly wish the next owners of 12 Musgrave St all the best in what is a stunning home.”
