PEOPLE with the dream of owning their own home better be in for the long haul, with new data showing Australians are taking longer than ever to take each step on the property ladder.
New analysis by Roy Morgan Research showed Australians were taking longer than ever to reach key property milestones.
Roy Morgan Research chief executive Michele Levine said long-term employment trends and an increasingly expensive housing market were delaying the traditional Australian dream of home ownership.

Just 12 per cent of those aged 40-44 own their home, down from 18 per cent in 2007.
