Gone are the days when auctions were reserved for weekends.
Industry experts say an increasing number of Adelaide homeowners are taking their properties to auction on a weekday.
It is a trend becoming more widely accepted by househunters too, with many finishing work early or using their lunch break to bid on their dream home.
While Saturday remains the most popular, auctioneers maintain the day and time a property goes under the hammer doesn’t impact its result.
In fact, Ray White SA chief auctioneer John Morris said weekdays could be better.

“You’ve got more competition on a Saturday than any other day of the week,” he said.
“Whereas auctions at other times – Wednesday, Thursday or Tuesday nights – there’s very few properties competing with you.”
Mr Morris said 11am on Saturday was the most popular time for auctions, with 79 across SA’s Ray White group this year held then.
“Between 10am and 3pm on a Saturday the most auctions are called,” he said.
“Our statistics show that 1pm on Friday is the best time – so far this year there’s been a 100 per cent success rate (on 19 auctions).”
Mr Morris said many people took Friday afternoon off or stepped away from work for a period to bid at auctions.
