Blink and you miss it: The small Sydney suburbs you’ve never heard of

PHOTO: At 24 hectares, Great Mackerel Beach is one of the smallest suburbs in Sydney.

Sydney’s smallest suburb isn’t a neighbourhood you have probably heard of.

Spanning just 11 hectares of land – more than 50 kilometres south-west of the city centre – the small suburb of Englorie Park is not a place many stumble across.

Neither are Elvina Bay in the city’s north or Clemton Park in the south-west, more of the almost 70 suburbs across the city that span less than 50 hectares.

While some of Sydney’s smallest suburbs are well known, such as The Rocks, Barangaroo and Rushcutters Bay, many fly under the radar, inconspicuously dotted between far better known suburbs, not just in new, outer areas but all across the city.
