Getting into the property market as a first home buyer might seem like a daunting venture, but in outback New South Wales it can come as cheaply as $150.
Key points:
- More than 80 properties with overdue rates went under the hammer in far-west NSW last week
- Multiple blocks of land sold for just a dollar each
- The most expensive property was a house in Wilcannia for $35,000
More than 80 properties went under the hammer across the far-west of New South Wales last week, with the most expensive purchase selling for just 3 per cent of Sydney’s median house price.
Multiple vacant landlocked blocks sold for a single dollar each.
“That was just the bid that we got and there was no reserve, so they just got sold for a dollar,” real estate agent Clifford Wren said.
“It was pretty pointless to the general person to [buy them] … so these landlocked properties were sold to the neighbouring station owners.”
