Preparations for the highly anticipated 20th season of The Block on Phillip Island in 2024 have stirred immense excitement among fans. However, the enthusiasm has been met with challenges, as an increasing number of curious onlookers, referred to as ‘peekers,’ have been attempting to catch a glimpse of the new contestants at Island Cove Villas.

To address this issue, Channel Nine has taken decisive action by enclosing the set with a substantial fence, effectively thwarting stickybeaks. A vigilant fan shared images on Facebook showcasing the construction of this imposing privacy barrier around the $9.5 million resort.

Construction crews were observed diligently erecting tall timber frames, creating a formidable perimeter fence for the new production site. The fan’s clandestine snapshots captured trucks and two-story homes on the site, situated two and a half hours south of Melbourne.

The excitement continued to build, and just days after the initial photographs were taken, another fan visited the location to find a completed, towering white fence enveloping the resort property. Channel Nine’s efforts to shield the homes from prying eyes were deemed successful.

It was revealed in September that a Channel Nine-owned company had acquired Island Cove Villas for the substantial sum of $9.5 million. The property, which currently includes nine homes, a communal pool, a BBQ pavilion, tennis court, and a children’s playground, is now undergoing transformations.

Tradespeople were spotted wheeling building equipment onto the site, and a large truck delivered essential construction materials on a Saturday. The site, in close proximity to the famous ‘Penguin Parade’ on the island, is described as breathtaking from the moment of arrival.

Previously, plans for The Block’s 20th season in Daylesford, north-west Victoria, were abandoned after over nine months of groundwork. Channel Nine had initially secured sites on Raglan Street in the picturesque country town but faced opposition from locals and delays in permit approvals, leading to the relocation of the production to Phillip Island. A new cohort of Blockheads will now undertake the task of transforming the Island Cove Villas resort.
