The undisclosed source informed Yahoo Lifestyle that, as part of their agreement before appearing on the show, The Block contestants consent to receiving their prize money in three installments over an eight-month period. According to the insider, the payments are scheduled to commence in February or March, potentially putting some of the participants in financial strain.

The insider said that Channel Nine is always up front about the payment associated with each season of The Block and contestants sign a contract agreeing to the payment schedule Pictured: Eliza and Liberty from The Block
Confirming the situation to Yahoo Lifestyle on Thursday, the source stated, ‘They all want their money,’ and added, ‘The realities are setting in for sure.’
The informant also disclosed that Channel Nine is transparent about the payment schedule for each season of The Block. Unlike reality shows in the early 2000s, such as Big Brother or Australian Idol, where money was received within a week, The Block’s payments are structured and occur in stages.

The delay in prize money distribution, according to the source, is attributed to ‘lengthy processes’ that must be finalized before contestants can access their winnings. Despite being informed of the payment plan before signing up, most contestants overlook this detail in their eagerness to participate in the popular franchise.

Among the contestants eagerly awaiting their prize money are Steph and Gian, who set a new record during the November finale by selling their remarkable Hampton East home for $5 million, walking away with a $1.65 million profit and an additional $100,000 in prize money. Other winners from the last season, such as Eliza and Liberty, as well as ‘villains’ Kristy and Brett, are also yet to receive their respective profits and prize money. Kyle and Leslie, who made a $3.1 million sale on their renovation, are owed $130,000.
